The MaIH Center

at Sam Rodgers

A New Model of Whole-Person Maternal Care in Kansas City.

Altruism, Inc. is expanding its maternal and infant health services through a new partnership with Samuel U. Rodgers Health Center.

The MaIH Center is growing where care already has deep roots—inside Sam Rodgers’ Cabot Westside facility at 2121 Summit Street.

There, we’ll provide culturally grounded doula and community health worker (CHW) support as part of a whole-person care model.

This is more than a new location. It’s a new way to support families—through compassion, advocacy, and wraparound care.

What Doulas Do

Our doulas are trained to walk with you before, during, and after childbirth. They provide emotional and physical support, help you prepare for delivery, and make sure your voice is heard—so you feel seen, heard, and cared for every step of the way.

They can:

    • Help you build a birth plan that reflects your wishes
    • Support you through labor and delivery
    • Advocate for your needs during hospital care
    • Provide emotional support during postpartum recovery

Because every pregnancy is different, your support team includes more than a doula. Our community health workers help with real-life needs—like food, diapers, housing, and transportation—so nothing important gets overlooked.

Built Through Partnership

This expansion is possible through a trusted partnership with Samuel U. Rodgers Health Center—a care leader in Kansas City for nearly 60 years.

If you’re receiving prenatal care at Sam Rodgers, you may qualify for doula and CHW support through The MaIH Center. Services are often covered by insurance or available at no cost for those who are uninsured.

You’ll also have access to Sam Rodgers’ pediatric and women’s health services—so your care continues long after birth.

Diaper Support

Clients of The MaIH Center may be eligible to receive monthly diapers for their child through age four, thanks to our partnership with Happy Bottoms.
